About

About me...

I began my career working in Fashion Buying and Merchandising, but after spending years working for some of the UK’s biggest retailers, I decided that I wanted to follow my creative passions instead. Those passions led me to training as a florist, where I began to learn floristry in a BFA award-winning local florist in Essex where I learnt to create traditional bouquet, wedding, funeral and sympathy arrangements, while simultaneously completing a floristry evening course.

These early foundations and my creative flair quickly established me within the industry and I became a full-time freelancer working for some of London’s top florists. As my work took me across London, I worked at some of the best wedding and event studios, restaurants, private member clubs, for weekly brand contracts as well as assisting in floral workshops (for Annabel’s and Judith Blacklock’s Flower School) and eventually onto an inspiring opportunity in Barcelona, where I worked on 5* hotel floral styling.

My experience working in fashion and across floristry, where I have learnt the traditional ‘neat and proper’ skills as well as a ‘rule-breaking’, creative and free approach to floristry, has culminated in my expressive and artistic approach to flower arranging and my vision for Lula Lula.

How it all started...

I had spent over a year daydreaming, envisioning and mulling over the vision for my brand, but my kick-start came from the most unexpected event - the COVID-19 pandemic. I lost all my freelance jobs overnight and had gone into lockdown and yet I was still receiving bouquet requests on a daily basis.

The fact that people, perhaps more than ever, still wanted flowers to send to loved ones they could no longer see, to family they missed, or even to themselves to brighten up their homes that had quickly become their entire world was truly what inspired and drove me into action. I couldn’t face turning away any more requests. It gave me so much joy to think I could be part of creating something that might bring people together during this time and spread some happiness through flowers.

So with the support of my boyfriend, Chris, and my amazing family, Lula Lula was born in my parents’ garage - or as it is known now, my studio - and we haven’t stopped running around like crazy to deliver bouquets across Essex ever since! The response has been absolutely amazing so far, and we just hope and plan to keep growing!

About Lula Lula...

When I first imagined an idea for my floristry brand, I wanted to approach it in a way that used all of my experiences and was an approach that uniquely showcased my crazy brain and creativity! During my time working in the fashion industry, I was designing, creating and buying fashion ranges for one of the UK’s top retailers, and it was this approach I wanted to bring to Lula Lula; designing my floristry ranges with seasonal launches inspired and planned based on trends. I have combined this with the other things that inspire me from my travels, art, music, poetry, food, emotions, shapes, textiles, beauty, interior design to people… just to name a few!

The name Lula Lula actually comes from my mum’s nickname ‘Lula’, which is a much shorter version of her full name, Maria Constanza. My mum is amazingly free-spirited and creative, and has hugely influenced not only me, but also my floristry. She truly embodies what I aim for my floristry and creativity to be!
